Organic Egypt Foundation organized a workshop titled “Co-Developing Indicators for the Transition Towards Agroecology” on Sunday, July 20, 2025. The workshop brought together a diverse group of agricultural experts, practitioners, association representatives, and stakeholders from academic institutions. The workshop focused on adapting agroecological indicators from the OASIS Manual to suit the environmental and socio-economic conditions of the Egyptian agricultural context. Participants engaged in deep discussions across three primary areas, 1) agroecological soil fertility management, 2) agroecological crop pest management, and 3) agroecological crop disease management. Overall, the workshop concluded with a shared vision to develop innovative and sustainable agroecological practices that can enhance food security and promote environmental conservation in Egypt.

As part of our ongoing mission to promote sustainable agriculture, a team member from Organic Egypt Foundation led a one-day workshop at the Sakha Horticultural Research Station in Kafr Elsheikh on Sunday, July 13th. The session brought together a group of agricultural researchers to discuss the vital role organic farming in building more resilient, sustainable food systems—especially in the cultivation of medicinal plants. Additionally, the workshop covered practical and research-based approaches to organic farming, linking them to global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) while also addressing real-life challenges on the ground. It was a great opportunity to collaborate with governmental organizations and NGOs and explore potential partnerships for implementing organic farming practices on a larger scale. Overall, the workshop was a successful step for networking and knowledge sharing among stakeholders in the sustainable agriculture sector.

Organic Egypt Foundation team participated in the Eco Cinema—Dark Waters screening and discussion event on Wednesday, July 9, hosted by EFER (Egyptian Foundation for Environmental Rights) at El Golf, Nasr City. The event brought together a wide range of organizations and individuals engaged in environmental sustainability, creating a space for dialogue, reflection, and collaboration. Dr. Ragaa El-Gerzawy, an environmental researcher and consultant, who also participated in the event shared insights on the importance of protecting water resources and the impact of pollution on ecosystems. Additionally, the event centered around the screening of the movie Dark Waters, a gripping legal thriller based on the true story of a lawyer who uncovered the dangerous impact of corporate pollution on a local community. Overall, the event successfully raised awareness about the importance of environmental protection and connected like-minded individuals who are passionate about making a positive impact on the environment.

In the context of the Women’s Empowerment in Rural Egypt Project, a four-day Training of Trainers (ToT) program was conducted in July for the vocational teachers of the SEKEM Development Foundation. The training was held by a trainer from bbw (Bildungswerk der Bayerischen Wirtschaft gGmbH) and was conducted at the SEKEM vocational school in Sharqia Governorate. The main goal of this training was to strengthen the capacity of educators in guiding and supporting the students through practical and professional vocational education. The trainer also brought expertise in gender-sensitive teaching methods to enhance the skills of vocational teachers in an Egyptian context. Additionally, the participants engaged in interactive workshops, group activities, and discussions to promote inclusive and empowering education for women in rural communities. Overall, the training not only equipped trainers with pedagogical tools but also helped them understand their pivotal role in creating career pathways for the students they teach.
