In June, Organic Egypt Foundation successfully conducted a two-day online training on the principles and practices of agroecology. On the first day of the training, the lecturer focused on the importance of biodiversity in agroecology and how it contributes to sustainable farming practices. The second day covered topics such as soil health, crop rotation, and natural pest management techniques, providing participants with a comprehensive understanding of agroecological principles and strategies. Overall, the training aimed to strengthen the participants’ understanding of sustainable and ecologically sound farming systems. It brought together 10 participants from various backgrounds—including agriculture graduates, independent farmers, and individuals interested in ecological practices—which created a diverse learning environment during the course.

As part of the Women’s Empowerment in Rural Egypt Project, the three women group facilitators at EBDA participated in a one-day intensive training on rural development and agricultural extension. The facilitators will support EBDA in developing and implementing a system that will track the progress of their empowerment sessions for rural women. This will help EBDA assess the effectiveness of their initiatives and make data-driven decisions for future tasks. The session began with an introduction to the concept of rural and sustainable development, its key objectives, and how it aligns with Egypt’s Vision 2030. Additionally, the lecturer explored the structure and social dynamics of rural communities. The training also covered the principles and philosophy of agricultural extension in Egypt, emphasizing its vital role in improving agricultural productivity and promoting sustainable farming practices. Overall, the training equipped participants with the skills needed to engage and mobilize women in rural areas.

Following the successful completion of the profiling and profession selection, each of the five vocational professions—cooking, sewing, cosmetics, poultry farming, and childcare—started the first training cycle, consisting of 72 training hours over 3 months. The selected women have received theoretical sessions as well as hands-on practical sessions, allowing them to begin creating sustainable products. Additionally, these sessions have equipped them with the foundational knowledge and technical skills necessary to launch their own businesses in the future. Overall, the training on the five professions was well-rounded and comprehensive, ensuring that the women are prepared to succeed in their chosen fields and not only empowering them economically but also contributing to the overall development of their communities by creating opportunities for sustainable livelihoods.

On June 18th,  Organic Egypt Foundation team participated in the Agri-Tech School Curriculum | Co-Creation Workshop organized by the EFG Foundation held in El Sheikh Zayed City in the Giza Governorate. The workshop brought together key stakeholders and experts to collaboratively design an agri-tech curriculum that responds to the dynamic needs of the agricultural sector in Egypt. The team contributed their expertise in organic farming practices and sustainable agriculture to help shape the curriculum, ensuring that it aligns with industry trends and best practices. By actively engaging in this workshop, they were able to contribute to the development of future generations of agri-tech professionals in Egypt.
