“Organic Egypt” is a German-Egyptian cooperation project aimed at promoting organic production in Egypt. The project is funded by the BMZ (German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development) and implemented through the German partners bbw gGmbH (Educational Institute of the Bavarian Economy) and sequa gGmbH (Partner of German Business). The six-year project (2018 – 2024) focuses on strengthening and supporting its partner associations, EBDA (Egyptian Biodynamic Association) and IDAM (Integral Development Association of Minia), in delivering demand-driven services that align with future market trends for organic farmers.

During its five-year journey in supporting the organic agriculture sector in Egypt, Organic Egypt has developed sector and framework analysis reports for organic farming, and implemented events and campaigns aimed at increasing awareness of organic agriculture. The team has collaborated with various stakeholders in the organic agriculture sector, including governmental agencies, NGOs, research institutions, and the private sector at both the national and international levels. To ensure the continuity of the project’s activities after the funding period ends, a sustainable entity will be established in 2024.

Achievements: 6 Governmental Dialogues, 344 Awareness Videos and Farmer’s Success Stories, 1,061 Days of Capacity Building Programs, and 91 Knowledge and Learning Materials reaching 12,141 farmers.
