Organic Egypt Foundation hosted a webinar titled “Regenerative Organic Agriculture” in collaboration with Dr. Hassan Aboubakr, professor of Entomology, Faculty of Agriculture, Cairo University, bringing together participants interested in more sustainable approaches to farming. The session focused on introducing the concept of regenerative agriculture, explaining how it goes beyond reducing harm to actively restoring soil health, improving biodiversity, and strengthening the resilience of farming systems. It also highlighted why this approach is becoming increasingly important, especially in the context of climate challenges and soil degradation, while opening space for discussion on how such practices can be applied in Egypt and adapted to local conditions. The webinar was highly interactive, giving participants the opportunity to ask questions, share their perspectives, and directly engage with Dr. Hassan throughout the session, which created an open dialogue and encouraged deeper understanding of the topic.

As part of the Women’s Empowerment in Rural Egypt project, the third training cycle has been launched, focusing on the practical vocational training of 50 women selected from rural communities. This cycle provides a three-month specialized training program across five vocational professions: sewing, poultry production, natural cosmetics and soap production, healthy cooking, and childcare. The training is designed to equip participants with hands-on skills and practical knowledge in their chosen fields, strengthening their technical capabilities and enhancing their readiness for employment and income-generating opportunities. Through this cycle, the project aims to support women’s economic empowerment by enabling them to develop sustainable skills that can be applied within their communities and beyond.

The project team participated in an awareness event held in Sharqia for 67 women and young girls from the 13 villages. The session marked the completion of a three months of training program under the Women’s Empowerment in Rural Egypt Project in collaboration with the Rahma Project and Organic Egypt. It focused on emotional healing, self-awareness, and self-care, while encouraging participants to reflect on their personal growth journey. The session was led by Prof. Dr. Samira El Malah, professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Al-Azhar University and former Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Al-Azhar University. Leaning back on her 50 plus years of experience, she delivered an insightful talk on women’s health and well-being. Participants actively engaged in discussions, shared transformative experiences, and concluded the session with a recognition ceremony and group activities that fostered a supportive and empowering environment.

As part of the Women’s Empowerment in Rural Egypt Project, the project team attended the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Investors Association in 10th of Ramadan city. This partnership represents an important step toward strengthening collaboration with the private sector to support women’s economic empowerment and enhance opportunities for sustainable livelihoods. The partnership specifically aims to connect the women trained through the project with job opportunities by linking them to potential employers within the Association’s network. It also supports access to markets and encourages the development of women-led projects. The event was attended by the General Manager, Dr. Hala Mohamed Salah Eldin, and Mr. Ayman Reda, the Secretary General of the Association, reflecting a shared commitment to fostering inclusive development and supporting women in rural communities.
